Internet Rights Human Rights (IRHR) & Secure Online Communications (SOC) Training

The Digital Empowerment Foundation and Association for Progressive Communications are organising an Internet Rights Human Rights (IRHR) & Secure Online Communications (SOC) Training for human rights activists. Nayantara Ranganathan from the Internet Democracy Project will be one of the facilitators.

The training aims to enhance the knowledge & experience of human rights defenders, civil society organisations and internet activists about linkages between human rights and the digital space.

The objectives of the training are- 

  • To raise awareness about the impact of the Internet on their work, increase the levels of accountability mechanisms for internet related rights violations, and advance agendas that improve conditions for the respect and application of human rights online 

  • Mobilizing activists online (using ICT tools and platforms) and offline 

  • To establish a baseline awareness of security by facilitating a process that enables women human rights defenders to define security, and its parameters, for themselves thereby enhancing digital security skills among them 

  • To facilitate dialogue and share learning about Internet rights specifically in both online and offline space 

  • Facilitate the exchange of information and idea to build organizational movement and capacity and to bring different organisations together.
