The India School of Internet Governance (inSIG2018) is jointly organised by the Internet Society India Delhi, Trivandrum, Kolkata and Mumbai Chapters. Dr. Anja Kovacs will be speaking on the panel on human rights, culture and democracy.

The first India School on Internet Governance (inSIG2016, https://insig.in/2016) was conceived as an initiative that would enhance the capacity of Internet Governance practitioners and equip them with the skills that would enable them to participate effectively in international Internet Governance processes. After the successful start, the second edition of inSIG (inSIG 2017, https://insig.in/2017) was organised in Technopark, Trivandrum, Kerala, in 2017. The third edition is now taking place in New Delhi.

Internet Governance is continuously gaining importance with increasing incidents of personal data breaches, rising concerns about privacy and data protection, Internet shutdowns in different parts of the country and the world, and the rising phenomenon of fake new. Manifold enhancements in digital transactions are also posing new challenges, calling for the need for increasing awareness and capacity building program in this space.

For inSIG2018, there will be 30 Fellows (with travel, hotel, fees and food), 15 International Fellows (with hotel, fees and food), and at least 10 local participants (with fees and food). There will be eminent speakers from within the country and abroad covering wide range of topics on issues pertaining to the Internet Governance.

The inSIG activities are aimed to have a catalytic effect on discussions and brainstorming in the ever-evolving area of Internet and Internet Governance.

inSIG2018 is supported by NIXI, Government of India; Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN); Internet Society (ISOC); and APASA.
