This the second one in a series of three open consultation meetings that are organised in preparation for the ITU WSIS+10 High-Level Event in Sharm el-Sheikh from 13 to 17 April 2014. The Internet Democracy Project is taking part in the consultation.

The high-level event will review the progress made in the implementation of the WSIS outcomes under the mandates of participating agencies; will take stock of achievements in the last 10 years based on reports of all WSIS Stakeholders; and will start to develop a new vision beyond 2015.

The preparatory process is an open and inclusive consultation among WSIS Stakeholders (governments, private sector, civil society, international organizations and relevant regional organizations) focused on developing multistakeholder consensus on two draft outcome documents, the thematic aspects, and innovations on the format of the Event. The two draft outcome documents, to be developed during the open consultation process by 1 March 2014 and submitted for consideration by the WSIS+10 High-Level Event are:

  • Draft WSIS+10 Statement on the Implementation of WSIS Outcomes

  • Draft WSIS+10 Vision for WSIS Beyond 2015 under mandates of participating agencies

The written contributions made to the second preparatory meeting by the Internet Democracy Project and others can be found here.
