Internet Governance and India: The Way Forward

Observer Research Foundation, Rouse Avenue Institutional Area, New Delhi, 11 am - 2 pm

Following the success of CyFy 2013: The India Conference on Cyber Security and Cyber Governance this past October, the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) invites you to a discussion on Internet Governance and India: The Way Forward. Anja Kovacs is a panelist.

As India continues to seek a significant role in the internet governance debates — which will, in the end, help determine key aspects of the internet including governance, freedom of expression and securing an open internet — ORF is providing a platform to interact with key members from government, industry, civil society and academia who have presented an Indian voice at international fora.

The panel includes Dr Govind, CEO of NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India); Mr Virat Bhatia, Chairman, FICCI, Communications & Digital Economy Committee; Dr Anja Kovacs, Project Director, Internet Democracy Project; and Ms Subi Chaturvedi, Assistant Professor, Journalism & Communication at LSR, New Delhi.

The conference will provide a platform to gain in-depth understanding of the issues revolving around internet governance. This discussion with all stakeholders will contribute towards gaining in-depth understanding of the issues revolving around internet governance, and the larger Indian approach to cyber governance.

The outputs of the discussion can be used as a reference point for Indian negotiators at such platforms while enabling researchers and other stakeholders to develop an understanding of India’s stand on cyber governance.

The session will be followed by lunch.
