Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2014
Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center, Istanbul, Turkey
Abstract
The IGF serves to bring people from various stakeholder groups together as equals in discussions on public policy issues relating to the Internet. The Internet Democracy Project is participating in the meeting.
The IGF was established by the World Summit on the Information Society, with the first edition taking place in 2006. At their annual meeting delegates discuss, exchange information and share good practices with each other.
While there is no negotiated outcome, the IGF informs and inspires those with policy-making power in both the public and private sectors. The IGF facilitates a common understanding of how to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges that arise.
