High Level Leaders Meeting on Global Multistakeholder Collaboration for Achieving a Safe, Secure and Tolerant Cyberspace: Enabling Growth and Sustainable Development through Cyber Ethics

This High Level Leaders Meeting takes place in Bali on the day before the start of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

Under the theme Global Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration for Achieving a Safe, Secure and Tolerant Cyberspace: Enabling Growth and Sustainable Development through Cyber Ethics”, the High Level Leaders Meeting provides UN Member States and other relevant stakeholders, including private sectors and civil societies, with a meaningful dialogue on ways to act and establish commonly acceptable values at the global level in responding to cyberspace challenges and opportunities, and most importantly, in building a safe, secure and tolerant cyberspace based on mutual interests and common cyber ethics principles.

Keynote speaker is the Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Tifatul Sembiring.

Co-Chairs of the event are the Director General for ICT Application, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Ashwin Sasongko and United Nations Assistant-Secretary-General Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), Mr. Thomas Gass.

Panelists include representatives from ICANN, the ITU, the governments of the US, China, Brazil, the UK, Japan and Azerbaijan, Google, Telkom Indonesia, ISOC, APNIC, Citizens’ Lab, DiploFoundation, and the Internet Democracy Project.

All panelists are invited to give comments on the following sub-themes:

  • Common understanding on cyber-ethics, such as: privacy, property, responsibility, accountability, liability, accessibility, accuracy, etc.

  • Multi-stakeholder collaboration.

  • Cyber security for safe, secure and tolerant cyberspace.

  • Connectivity and responsibility for growth and sustainabie development.

  • Public trust for delivering internet resources to the community.

The Meeting is expected to result in a set of recommendations to achieve safe, secure and tolerant cyberspace in the efforts to achieve economic growth and sustainable development.
