Workshop for Women by Women (WWW)

Krishi Gram Vikas Kendra, Ranchi, Jharkhand

In partnership with Feminist Approach to Technology, the Internet Democracy Project will hold a four-day long training workshop for activists working on women’s rights issues in Jharkhand, on opportunities and challenges in the use of information and communication technologies by women. Nayantara Ranganathan and Dr. Anja Kovacs will be co-facilitating the workshop with Gayatri Buragohain from FAT.

In the course of four days, we will be covering a range of themes from mental, social and economic barriers in the use of technology by women to the political economy of technology through a gender lens. We will cover the different laws that exist for crimes committed through the use of technology. The workshop will include hands-on sessions with mobile phones: for participants who had no prior experience with using mobile phones, to for those who use it nominally.

We will conclude the workshop with a session on Internet governance and the importance of having women in spaces of policy making on the Internet.
