The Working Group on Enhanced Cooperation (WGEC) of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) has been established to examine the mandate of the World Summit on the Information Society regarding enhanced cooperation as contained in the Tunis Agenda. Anja Kovacs joins the third meeting of the WGEC onsite as an observer.

As per UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/67/195, the WGEC is to seek, compile and review inputs from all Member States and all other stakeholders on the mandate regarding enhanced cooperation as contained in the Tunis Agenda of the World Summit on the Information Society, and to make recommendations on how to fully implement this mandate. As such, the WGEC is one of the central venues where the debate on the future of Internet governance is playing out at the moment.

This meeting of the WGEC is the third in a series intended for an exchange of views among stakeholders and to report the outcomes to the CSTD at its seventeenth session in 2014. More specifically, the meeting will be devoted to the formulation of concrete recommendations on how to fully implement the WSIS enhanced cooperation mandate.

Anja Kovacs had earlier attended the second meeting of the WGEC as a remote observer.
