Roundtable discussion on IANA Transition & ICANN Accountability Process and India’s position
Abstract
The roundtable is organised by CCAOI, with the support of NIXI, DeitY, ICANN and ISOC Delhi. The Internet Democracy Project is participating.
As you may be aware, CCAOI had conducted a study on the “The Indian Perspective on the IANA Stewardship Transition”, to understand and crystallize issues related to the IANA Transition and obtained inputs on these issues from diverse stakeholders. The latter include civil society, private sector, experts as well as government functionaries. Subsequently, the views expressed by these stakeholders were assimilated to come up with the discussion points, which were compiled into a report and submitted to NIXI.
At the round table we plan not only to share and discuss the salient points of our study, but also to but also to cover and catch up the recent global developments on IANA Transition and initiate deliberation between all stakeholders on India’s approach to the queries raised by CCWG Accountability group, discuss issues in the IANA transition which are relevant to India but not receiving adequate attention and identify best way forward for India and identify best way forward for India
Dr. Ajay Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, has accepted to Chair the event and the discussions would be moderated by Dr. Govind, CEO NIXI and Dr. Mahesh Uppal.
