Roundtable Discussion on Use of 3-letter Country Code as Top Level Domain (ccTLD)
Abstract
This edition of the roundtable discussions were organised by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) along with the collaboration of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI). The meeting focused on the issues relating to the use of 3 character ccTLD’s. Shri. Sanjiv Mittal, Joint Secretary, DeitY chaired the roundtable and the discussions were moderated by Shri. Rahul Gosain, Director, DeitY. Rajat Rai Handa represented the Internet Democracy Project in this discussion.
In pursuance to India’s commitment to the multi-stakeholder approach towards Internet governance, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has been hosting various roundtables in order to invite comments from relevant stakeholders on key Internet governance issues. This was the eigth multi-stakeholder discussion in the series of roundtables.
The discussions primarily focused on the questions put forth by the Cross Community Working Group on the Use of Country and Territory on 3 character codes with regard to the use of country and territory names. ICANN had sought responses/comments on the issue from the relevant stakeholder groups from India.
