Round Table on Strengthening Freedom of Expression on the Internet in India
In an effort to help strengthen the debate on freedom of expression online in India, the Internet Democracy Project has been conducting pioneering research on a range of related issues. We are organising this Round Table to share the findings of this research for the first time with a wider expert community, and to discuss with this community the main implications of the findings and various difficult questions that they have thrown up or further crystallised in greater depth. Mumbai Consultation on Women and Online Abusive Speech
Building upon the findings of our gender research and inputs from feminists, bloggers and lawyers received at the National Consultation held at New Delhi, the Internet Democracy Project, together with Point of View, is organising a public meeting in Mumbai on 6 March, 2013 with an aim to refine the strategies that women use to deal with abusive, sexist speech online. National Consultation on Women and Gendered Online Abuse
In a first of its kind, this national consultation seeks to bring together activists, lawyers and bloggers to discuss in greater depth the findings of pioneering research by the Internet Democracy Project on women and verbal online abuse in India.
