Interaction of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with Aadhaar: Scoping Challenges and Possible Responses
Abstract
This one day workshop is organised by the Technology Policy team at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi in collaboration with Design Beku, a Bangalore-based design collective. The goal of the workshop is to debate the design and implementation of the Aadhaar project from the perspective of PWDs and utilise tools of service design to identify collectively the issues, gaps, and breakdowns as well as imagine alternatives. The Internet Democracy Project is participating.
The technological and process designs of Aadhaar as well as their continuing invisibility from the policy discourse and research surrounding digital identity systems have posed unique challenges for PWDs and hence it becomes necessary to explore and debate the design and implementation of the Aadhaar project from the perspective of PWDs.
