Cybersecurity in the Commonwealth – A Consultation Workshop in the Margins of GCCS2017

Marriott Hotel, Aerocity, New Delhi

This event is organised by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO). Dr. Anja Kovacs has been invited to participate in the event as a facilitator of one of the sub-groups of the workshop.

In September, the CTO Council in Maputo called upon Commonwealth Heads of Government to address cyber security when they meet in London in April 2018. In response the Government of India has kindly agreed that the Commonwealth and its partners can meet in the margins of the GCCS in Delhi to take this idea forward.

The Commonwealth workshop will bring together government representatives and representatives of business, civil society and international organisations, to discuss how best to potentially use CHOGM to progress our mutual cyber security interests, building on the existing Commonwealth Cyber Governance Model agreed by ICT Ministers in 2014. The aim of the Workshop is to have a multi-stakeholder discussion on the role the Commonwealth could play in international cyber security capacity building and promoting common values and positions in international negotiations. It is thus the starting point for a process which is hoped to lead to a Commonwealth cyber security declaration at CHOGM in April 2018,
