This seminar is organised by FGV Direito Rio, as part of the CyberBRICS project. Dr. Anja Kovacs is moderating the session on strategies and priorities for digital infrastructures in the BRICS.

The world is increasingly connecting to the Internet through mobile phones, connected objects (Internet of Things) and new artificial intelligence applications, and we are consuming more data every year. Used spectrum bands are becoming congested, leading to service failures, especially when many people in the same area are trying to access applications via the mobile Internet at the same time. It is at this juncture that the fifth generation of mobile internet connectivity (5G) comes, promising much faster data download and upload speeds, more stable connections and opportunities for the development of robotics, the Internet of Things and big data.

This event brings together members of the government and business sectors, researchers and experts to discuss key challenges and opportunities for the implementation of digital infrastructures, as well as deepen the debates on what are the current strategies of the BRICS countries.
